Privacy Policy
How Alanis Quran Center handles the information of everyone who writes to us, and of the staff who answer.
Last updated: 14 August 2026
1. Who we are
Alanis Quran Center (“we”, “us”) operates Alanis Chat, the contact desk published at https://chat.alanistilawa.com. We are responsible for the information described in this policy and for answering any question you have about it.
For anything to do with your information — a copy of it, a correction, or its deletion — write to info@alanistilawa.com.
2. What this service does
Alanis Chat is the tool our team uses to answer the people who contact the center. When you send a WhatsApp message to our business number, that message arrives here, a contact record is created for you if you are writing for the first time, and one member of our team is given responsibility for replying to you. Their reply is sent back to you on WhatsApp.
We use the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API), provided by Meta Platforms, to send and receive those messages.
3. Information we collect
If you message us on WhatsApp:
- Your phone number, and the country it belongs to.
- The name shown on your WhatsApp profile, if you have set one.
- The content of the messages you send us — text, and any image, audio, document or other file you attach.
- The messages we send you in reply, with the times they were sent, delivered and read.
- Notes our team records about your enquiry, such as which class you asked about and whether you have registered.
If you open one of our invitation or registration links:
- The reference code of the link, and the time you opened it.
- Any name or phone number you enter on that page yourself.
- Your IP address, browser and device type, and the page that referred you — used to tell genuine visits apart from duplicates and automated traffic, and to see which links are working.
If you are a member of our team with an account:
- Your name and phone number, which is also how you sign in.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash — we cannot read it.
- Your role and the permissions attached to it.
- A record of the contacts assigned to you and the messages you sent, so the center can account for its own correspondence.
We also store small items in your browser: your sign-in session, your chosen language, and your light or dark theme. These are needed for the site to work. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
4. Why we hold it
We use the information above only in order to:
- Answer your question and follow up on it.
- Register you or your child for classes at the center, and keep in touch about them.
- Give your enquiry to a specific member of staff so that it is not missed, and share the workload fairly across the team.
- Keep the earlier conversation available to whoever answers you next, so you are not asked to explain yourself twice.
- Send announcements about the center to people who have contacted us, where you have agreed to receive them.
- Understand which of our links and announcements reached people, in the aggregate.
- Keep the account secure and see who did what inside it.
We rely on your consent, which you give by messaging us first, and on our legitimate interest in running the center and replying to the people who write to it. We never use your messages to build advertising audiences, and we do not sell your information to anyone, for any purpose.
5. WhatsApp and Meta
Your messages reach us through WhatsApp, so they also pass through the systems of Meta Platforms, who provide it. Meta’s handling of your data is governed by its own terms — see the WhatsApp Privacy Policy — and is outside our control. This policy covers what happens to your information once it reaches us.
We only use the WhatsApp Business Platform to hold conversations with people who have written to us or agreed to hear from us. We do not use it to send unsolicited messages.
6. Who else sees it
Your information is seen by:
- The staff of the center who are authorised to answer contacts. Each of them sees only the contacts assigned to them; managers can see all of them.
- Meta Platforms, as the provider of WhatsApp, in order to deliver the messages.
- The hosting and database providers that run this service on our behalf, and only for that purpose.
- A public authority, where the law requires us to hand something over.
Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not pass it to advertisers or data brokers.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your contact record and conversation for as long as you are in touch with the center and for as long as we may reasonably need it to answer you again — for example, across the terms of a course. When it is no longer needed, or when you ask us to delete it, we remove it.
Records of link visits, which we use only to see whether a link worked, are kept in a reduced form and are not used to identify you.
8. How it is protected
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Access to the desk requires an account, and what each account can see and do is limited by its role. Only the staff who need to answer contacts are given accounts.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and take the steps the law requires of us.
9. Your rights
You may, at any time:
- Ask what information we hold about you, and receive a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your contact record and conversation.
- Withdraw your consent and ask us to stop messaging you — replying “STOP” to any of our WhatsApp messages is enough, and you can also block the number in WhatsApp at any time.
- Object to how we are using your information, or ask us to restrict it.
Write to info@alanistilawa.com from the address or with the phone number you contacted us on, and we will answer within 30 days. Deletion is described step by step on our data deletion page.
10. Children
The center teaches children, so a parent or guardian is usually the one who contacts us about a child and gives us the child’s name and class details. We ask that children do not message the center on their own account. If you believe a child has sent us information without a parent’s knowledge, write to info@alanistilawa.com and we will delete it.
11. Where your information is held
We operate from Ethiopia. The servers and services we use to run this desk, including WhatsApp itself, may store or process your information in other countries. Wherever it is held, it is used only as described in this policy.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Continuing to message us after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact us
Alanis Quran Center — info@alanistilawa.com. Tell us what you would like us to do and how to recognise your records, and we will act on it within 30 days.
